He is charged with robbing and killing Willie Woods and Elmus ''Mus'' Robinson on the night the Florida Marlins won the World Series in 1997.

Prosecutor David Waxman urged the jury to consider the physical evidence in the case -- blood found at the scene that matched Peterson's DNA, and a bullet casing found at the scene that was made the same day and at the same factory as two bullets found in Peterson's home.

He said his blood was found in various places at the Mango Lounge because he always had nosebleeds when he snorted cocaine. And he always snorted cocaine at the Mango Lounge.

''Sometimes I would snort until my nose would bleed and my nose would be burning and the only thing that would make me feel better was to snort some more,'' he told the jury.

Another witness testified that when he went to the Mango Lounge to do drugs, he always saw Peterson with a piece of tissue stuffed up his nose and blood on it.

Peterson said detectives found Robinson's blood on his shoe because he used to help Robinson inject heroin into his arm and sometimes Robinson bled.

As for the bullet casing, Peterson's attorney, David S. Markus, called it ''junk science.'' He told the jury about how the Florida Supreme Court had ruled that the same evidence analyst had presented ''junk science'' in another murder case.

''It's science without meaning,'' Markus said during his closing arguments. He noted that the analyst said he had never testified before about markings on the tail end of bullet casings.

Markus argued that the other people who testified against Peterson -- a rival drug dealer who said he made $10,000 a week dealing out of the Mango Lounge, a convict who lied about how many times he had been arrested, and a woman who traded sex for drugs and was in trouble with the law -- all lied.

Waxman asked jurors how likely it was that three witnesses made up stories to implicate Peterson -- along with a DNA analyst and a weapons expert finding evidence also implicating Peterson.

''If the witnesses lied, why does he have bullets made the same day on the same machine, out of the billions floating around in the world?'' Waxman asked.
